Core Values

Beyond just dyeing and throwing discs, it's important that the Andyedalus brand and those who represent it are able to encapsulate these values every day:

  • Live with empathy. Life is tough enough, if you're able, take a few moments to help others out, even if it's just with some kind and reassuring words. Embrace diversity and celebrate the wide variety of people who can enjoy this sport with us.

  • Be responsible. Whether it's words or actions, be thoughtful and aware of the impact you're making in the moment. Don't litter or draw disc chargers on benches, sure. But also don't be a jerk to those around you, and take responsibility to remedy a situation if you make a mistake.

  • Keep it classy. Go beyond the bare minimum and make a great impression on those you meet! Be a role model and keep a positive attitude, even when things might suck.

  • Look sharp. Even if you're hitting every tree on the course, some sweet dyes in your bag are what your cardmates are going to notice and remember after the round.

Who is Andy?

Andy grew up being an introverted indoors-only nerdy type, spending most of his free time playing video games like Smash Bros (Melee), Street Fighter, Diablo II, World of Warcraft, or Magic: the Gathering.

Around 2014 was Andy's first introduction to disc golf when he was invited to play a round with some MTG friends. It wouldn't be until 2018 that Andy would play disc golf again, thanks to some coworkers at his new job. From that point on, the addiction really stuck.

Fast forward to 2021, and in the midst of the covid-19 pandemic, like many others, Andy decided to give the art of disc dyeing a try. Andyedalus was created to show off his dyes on Instagram, and that turned into an opportunity to sell dyes to fund more discs and dye supplies to continue creating more custom disc dyes!

And now the next goal is growth! Andy wants to eventually get one of his dyes in the hands of someone on every continent.

What is Andyedalus?

Andyedalus is a portmanteau of Andy, Dye, and Daedalus, and is pronounced An-Dye-Delus.

In Greek mythology, Daedalus was a master craftsman who created several important and distinctive things in the mythological stories. The most well-known of those were the wax wings that he created for his son, Icarus, who used them to fly too close to the sun, where they melted, leaving Icarus to fall into the sea and drown.

Important note: the wings worked perfectly, Icarus just made bad choices!

The goals and ethos of the Andyedalus brand are centered around creating exceptional quality dyes that stand out, and that anyone would be proud to own - creations that would live up to the standards of Daedalus himself.
